The following video clip, which runs about 9 minutes, is a true story of when I went back to play minor league baseball for three days for the South Bend White Sox (Midwest League) in 1989. This was done as a writing assignment for Sports Illustrated, but as you'll see, my stint as an active player in my late 30s had a most unexpected ending.
